Tailored Design with a Contemporary Alpine Edge
Collaborating with Lauren Jayne Design and S2 Architects, Jamaica Jones helped shape a new-construction residence in Aspen, Colorado, blending craftsmanship, warmth, and modern mountain sophistication. The project, later featured in Modern in Denver Magazine (Winter 2017), reflects a holistic approach to design, where architecture, interior detailing, and bespoke furnishings merge seamlessly.

Fireplace Millwork Verification – Left Side
Field verification of the custom millwork and seat height along the left side of the main living area fireplace. The review ensured alignment between the installed finishes and design intent prior to fabrication of the upholstered cushions and final detailing.

Window Nook Measurement – Right Side
On-site verification of millwork dimensions beneath the main living area window to confirm fit for custom bench seating and cushions. Since installed millwork can vary slightly from architectural drawings, these measurements were critical to ensure precise fabrication and seamless integration of the soft furnishings.

Primary Bedroom Construction – Left Headboard Wall
Installation coordination in the primary suite during construction, working with the general contractor to determine precise placement of the custom floating nightstands. Wall support locations were verified to ensure proper structural integration before finishes were applied.

Primary Bedroom Construction – Right Headboard Wall
Coordination with the electrical team to align outlet placement within the upholstered headboard wall. Careful layout planning ensured that all J-boxes and wiring would remain accessible and properly aligned once the wall panels and furnishings were installed.

Upholstered Panel Mock-Up Review
Close-up of the field mock-up created to demonstrate upholstered panel thickness and verify electrical box alignment. The mock-up helped the general contractor understand how far J-boxes needed to be proud of the wall, streamlining installation and preventing field adjustments.

Panel Construction Detail
Detailed view of the upholstered panel mock-up showing its internal construction, including a plywood substrate, one-inch foam, and Dacron wrap. The sample served to confirm the panel’s proportions, visual softness, and fabrication method for designer approval and site reference.

Headboard Wall Installation – Initial Alignment
The first row of upholstered panels installed along the primary bedroom headboard wall, shown with one floating nightstand in place to verify electrical box placement and cutout accuracy. This step ensured proper alignment before the full wall was completed.

Installation in Progress
The installation team completing the upper rows of upholstered panels in the primary suite. Equipment such as air compressors and ladders were used to secure the panels while protecting the floors, finishes and existing furnishings.

Completed Headboard Wall
The finished headboard wall with faux suede upholstered panels installed and aligned to precision. Electrical box covers are yet to be added, marking the final stage before completion. The result showcases the seamless integration of architecture, furniture, and soft finishes within the primary suite.

Guest Bedroom Field Verification
Site photo documenting the window and closet door trim locations in the guest bedroom. Measurements were taken to confirm that final dimensions matched the concept drawings following drywall and trim installation, an essential step before proceeding with custom headboard and bed fabrication.

Initial Guest Bedroom Rendering
Preliminary SketchUp rendering illustrating dimensions for the custom bed base, upholstered headboard panels, and switch box cutout. The drawing provided a baseline reference for spatial relationships, walkway clearances, and alignment with the existing lighting and trim conditions.

Revised Guest Bedroom Rendering
Updated SketchUp rendering developed after field verification, reflecting new switch box locations above each nightstand, adjusted lamp placements, and a modified headboard and bed base design. The revised plan includes a recessed cavity for the mattress to increase walkway clearance within the compact room footprint, ensuring comfort and proportion in the final installation.

Headboard Panel Installation
Guest bedroom headboard panels installed on the wall, showing precision cutouts for integrated lighting and switch boxes. Coordination with the general contractor and electrical team ensured that all components aligned perfectly within the upholstered layout.

Bed Base Alignment
Custom bed base positioned beneath the installed headboard panels, featuring a recessed cavity designed to widen walkway clearance within the compact guest room. The installation reflects careful spatial planning and coordination between design and fabrication teams.

Mattress Placement Verification
Mattress positioned on the custom bed base to verify alignment with the upholstered headboard panels. This quality check confirmed that dimensions, panel spacing, and overall composition were executed according to design intent before final completion.
